To Register a quilt in QuiltFest


Complete one entry form for each quilt you wish to enter, including the Challenge and Young Quiltmakers categories.
The form may be photocopied. Please fill it out completely and legibly.

Please read the Category Rules carefully and check the appropriate box on the Registration Form.


All quilts will be registered in the name of the person who signs the form, except for Guild/Group opportunity
quilts which should be registered in the name of the Guild/Group.

The entry fee is $30.00 per quilt, except for Challenge and Young Quiltmakers categories which are free.


Sign and date the Registration Form. Quilts cannot be accepted without a signed or online Registration Form.
 
All quilts must remain on display until the end of the show. There are no exceptions.
 
Exclusions:
  • Any item previously entered in QuiltFest
  • Framed or frame-stabilized quilts
  • Mounted quilts
  • Mass produced machine quilted entries
  • Clothing
  • Home fashions
  • Tied or non-quilted quilts (except for Young Quilt-makers and Other Quilting Techniques categories)
  • No antique quilts can be accepted.
Printed panels may be accepted if they are integrated into the quilt and not simply bordered.
Some quilted panels may be accepted as whole cloth quilts.
 
QuiltFest will not accept any quilts with offensive odors (e.g., cigarette smoke, pet odors, etc.)

You may register and pay online. A quilt may only be registered once over the show years.
 
Entrance to the show is free for one day only with your registration.
 
You may mail your Registration Form and Quilt Registration Fee(s) (made out to QuiltFest Charleston) to: ________

Quilt Preparation

Sleeve: All quilts (with the exception of miniatures smaller than 12”) must have a 4” sleeve at the top of the quilt. This sleeve must be stitched on the top and bottom.
See diagram.

Important: If your quilt measures more than 90” from the top of the sleeve to the bottom of the quilt, it will be rejected. This limitation is dictated by the quilt hanging system. See diagram.

Quilt Owner’s Label: Each quilt must have a fabric I.D. label with the owner’s name (as listed on registration form) legibly printed or stitched and attached in the lower left-hand corner on the back of quilt. See diagram above.
Any references to the maker, whether on the front or back (including the I.D. label mentioned above), will be covered during the judging phase of QuiltFest

Bag: Each quilt, including miniatures, is to be completely enclosed in a fabric bag no smaller than a standard size pillowcase that can be closed and EASILY tied at the top. No zipper closures on bags.
If your entry is a large quilt, it must be in a fabric bag large enough to be easily closed and tied at the top.
Your name and phone number must appear on the outside of the bag.
Each entry must have its own bag. No mesh laundry bags, please.
NOTE: For rolled rather than folded quilts, the pole may be no longer than 36”. The pole must be flexible (no pvc pipe) and protrude no more than 2” at either end of the quilt.

Shipping:
If you are shipping your quilt, quilt must arrive between _______, and ______ to:

Enclose a prepaid label or check for shipping, insurance, and $2.00/box handling fee.
Please include a pre-paid shipping label. If you are unable to include this label, send a check covering the cost of the return shipping and insurance
plus a $2.00 handling fee made payable to QuiltFest Charleston. This check must accompany your quilt (do not send with registration.)
Without this pre-paid label or check, your quilt cannot be returned to you.

Check In

All hand-delivered entries must be checked in on ____________ between the hours of 11 am and 2 pm at one of these locations specified on your registration form.
Your paperwork will only be at the specified location.
Hand delivered entries will NOT be accepted before or after this date.
Please notify Registration if you withdraw your quilt.Quilt

Quilt Pick-up

Quilt pick-up will begin on _________, no earlier than _____ pm after the close of the show.
Quilt owners are required to present their quilt owner’s receipt at the time of pick-up.
All quilts not being shipped must be picked up at this time.

All shipped entries will be returned to the quilt owner within 10 days after the end of QuiltFest.
